Make your skin Oil free

Oily skin is a problem that is seen commonly amongst a lot of people. It not just irritates a person but also affects the overall appearance which sometimes has a great impact on one’s confidence and personality. According to the observation, the main reason for excessively oily skin is the oil producing sebaceous glands being overactive and producing more oil than the facial skin tissue wants or is properly able to handle naturally.  An oily skin excels a greasy shine and enlarges the pores.
Some of the main causes for oily skin are factors of heredity, diet, hormone levels, pregnancy birth pills, cosmetics, humidity and hot weather. Although the sebum or oil naturally increases when one is his/her teenage adolescence, it is supposed to decrease as we become older and move into adulthood. However, due to some hormonal changes those occur during pregnancies, menopause or even under situations of excessive stress for long periods of time in life, the oil content does not reduce from the body.
As it is impossible to change the skin texture, it is advisable to take care and maintain your skin. There are several ways of doing so but the most effective, least harmful and most economical way is the herbal care. Following are some of the herbal remedies for oily skin:
  • Wash your face at least twice a day with gentle organic soap and warm water.
  • Always keep your skin absolutely clean as it helps to keep the pores more oil free and which in return contributes to lessoning blemishes.
  • Apply Aloe-Vera on your skin once a day, as this plant contains a wonderful oil absorbing product.
  • Mix ground almonds with honey and make it into a paste and then apply it all over the face. This will help in removing oil and dead skin cells. After application, gently massage the paste into your skin with a hot wash cloth, and then rinse with cold water.
  • Another organic facial cleanser is oatmeal mixed with Aloe-Vera. Rub this mixture over your skin. Leave on for 15 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
Every good or bad thing that happens to our body is related to what we consume in the form of our diet and when we talk of the skin, diet forms the most essential factor that determines the skin type. Consumption of food that is high in antioxidants, vitamins, whole grains and fatty acids is vital for an overall balanced body and skin. Certain items like refined sugars, chocolate, all junk foods, all fast foods, foods fried in cooking oils and aerated drinks must be strictly prohibited from consumption in case one has an oily skin. This is because these items rarely add to the nutrition value of the body, instead it increases the oil content in the skin.
Irrespective of the age and gender of a person, oily blemished skin can be a constant nuisance and cause painful discomfort.
