Cleaning your computer

Computer, an electronic device, works for the convenience of man. Though man has made it, yet, he behaves as a handicapped without one. Like all of us, even computers or laptops need to be cleaned regularly for smooth functioning. Cleaning in literal terms doesn’t mean to wash it; it refers to dry process of waving away the unwanted dust that has settled o the device. So, here you will come across the answers for a question like How to clean your computer/ laptop?
  • To start off get the basic materials required for cleaning it, like- a soft clean dusting cloth, a brush for cleaning through the keyboard and a spray which is specifically used for removing away the dust and junk from the things and lastly a liquid shiner to give it a final touch.
  •  Now that we have collected everything, we can proceed with cleaning the screen. Screens are magnets for dust and dirt. If you notice, then the screen can also be covered with fingerprints. Never spray the cleaner directly on the screen, instead spray small amount on your cleaning cloth and then wipe the screen working in a circular motion.
  •  While cleaning away the dust, pay attention to the fan vents and make sure that they aren’t blocked. Dust out here might just act as a hindrance in the useful working of the computer.
  •  Do not forget to dust underneath your computer and the cords to your computer which can collect dust.
  •  Moving on to the keyboard, this needs patience to be cleaned. There might be events when you were eating your crispy chips while watching videos and so the bits might have got stuck in between the keys. For this, it is advisable to use a brush with thin teeth so that every corner on your keyboard is chips free! After you have removed the particles and dust balls then spray the cleaner on the cloth and then clean the surface of the keys.
  •  Lift the keyboard up and clean it from underneath.
  •  Clean the corners of your computer so that no dust is left behind to rot.
  •  Remove the dust from other parts of the computer like its CPU, speakers and the lovely mouse.
  •  Finally use a device polish to give your computer a shinning look. Put some shiner on the cloth and clean the screen, keyboard, CPU and mouse from above. I the end, you will realize how dirty your computer was when you initially started cleaning it.
Cleaning your computer after regular intervals is a must for its sustainability. These tips can also be followed to clean your laptop. After all both serve the same purpose.

Apple MacBook air

Apple’s latest item on the block is the apple MacBook air. This creation has been called as the world’s “ultra-thin” notebook. It’s incredibly thin and yet so strong. The windows vista also works in this device without any hiccups.
The design of the MacBook air is nothing but jaw dropping. Formed from a block of aluminum with the internal cavity CNC machined, it is super Comparing it to a known item like a ThinkPad, it would beat it hands down, with no plastic creaking to boot! You would need to move into the realm of Panasonic Toughbook’s to find something that would be an equal competitor.
The screen on the MacBook is brilliant, with vibrant colors and intense backlight. Black levels are rich and even with very little backlight bleed showing through even on very dark scenes in movies or games.
The MacBook Air keyboard is the slim key design that is also found across the board on other Apple products. Spacing is slightly off compared to a more normal keyboard, and it took a while to get used to the layout. Once you get past the transition, you notice the keyboard is very well built and pretty comfortable to type on.
The touchpad has a few unique qualities that are either not seen in most notebooks, or were a first for notebooks. Windows users will notice right away that the touchpad is roughly a billion times larger than anything they have seen before, while Mac users will feel right at home. Measuring in at 4.12″ by 2.48″ it was larger than anything I have ever used in the past. The new feature new to this touchpad on the MacBook air is its multi-touch capabilities, which give the user the chance to play around with objects like they would on an iPod Touch or iPhone. This means pinching or spreading apart your fingers to zoom in and out, circling your fingers around to rotate objects, and other advanced motions.
The new 13″ MacBook Pro offers two USB ports, one mini-Display Port, LAN, and the return of FireWire 800. While eSATA is generally the best when it comes to fast external storage, more Mac-targeted storage devices offer FireWire from the long-standing Apple support of the standard. The MacBook Pro also offers a headphone jack and a new SD-card slot, bringing it to the same level that most PC’s have been at for a number of years. The most notable feature on the MacBook Pro is a handy battery gauge mounted on the side of the notebook. Pressing the button lights up a number of eight LED’s showing the current charge level of the battery.
MacBook Airoffers a super thin, lightweight design, but on the other they take away ports and give you a permanent battery. Overall it’s a promising notebook that should force some other manufacturers to wake up and design some lighter and slimmer full-size notebooks.

How to format Windows 7

In the recent past, Windows 7 has earned a lot of popularity because of its ultra-amazing features. And, formatting Windows 7 isn’t a big deal at all. Just follow the given steps and you’re there.
To format Windows 7, you can either buy a DVD, lest a bootable USB would do. Since using a Windows 7 Boot DVD is far more convenient, let’s see the easy plain steps to do so.
  • Make sure you start by rebooting your PC, post inserting the disk. A prompt message for pressing any key to boot from DVD would appear. Make sure you do hit a key.
  • Subsequently, installation files will be loaded by Windows and a setup window would appear.
  • Fill in the coveted language, currency, and time. Finally, click on “Install Now” to proceed further.
  • Within a minute or two, the setup will be successfully loaded. Now, go through the license terms and conditions and respond accordingly. For instance, you’re fine with the terms, press on “I accept the license terms” and hit “Next”.
  • If you’re sure to have a memory space of 5716 Mb, you can further move on to selecting the partition where you wish to install Windows 7 and press “Next”.
  • Obviously, before formatting, it’s a genuine recommendation to have a back up of all the files or documents you wish to preserve for future utility. So once you’re done with that, “Drive options” should be your next move. Hit “Format” followed by “Yes”.
  • Windows 7 would then be formatted in an approximated span of 30-60 minutes in accordance to the computer speed.
  • Post the entire progression given above, the computer will reboot, for the Windows 7 is still available in the drive. And, the message to press any key to boot from DVD will reappear. But, make sure you DO NOT hit any key this time, because you’ve already done that in the very beginning. All you need to do is, patiently wait for another 5 seconds and the PC will continue booting. Successively, the operating system formatting would be finished too.
  • And, you’re almost there! Just put in a username and a password too, if you have some secret files.
  • The product key will come in use now. Relax! Insert the Windows 7 product key and click on “Next”.
  • Microsoft Updates is another wise decision you should take. It’s highly recommendable.
  • Choose “Recommended Settings”.
  • Select your time zone from the drop down ribbon.
  • You may also select an appropriate network corresponding to your location.
  • In instances of multiple computers utility, you can also submit in a homegroup password, meant for sharing files.
  • Yes, windows is ultimately finalist your settings! You’re finally done. Cheers!
  • All you’re left with is tit-bit works now. You can now insert the manufacturer drivers’ CD and install them.
  • Also, because Windows 7 holds a great driver support, you may want to go to the Control Panel and check Windows Update option.
  • Okay, now you’re actually done with everything. Ready to use!
Did you ever know it was so easy to format Windows 7? You can now flaunt your ability as a “computer savvy”, even if don’t consider yourself to be one.

How to Install Windows 7

For all those innocent “not-so computer savvy” people, this is a simple step-by-step navigation guide onhow to install Windows 7.
  • Now the very basic step that you must adhere to is to first check the compatibility of your PC and Windows 7. You can do the same by checking the Windows 7 System Requirement list. In case your hardware lacks any of them, download the same from an authentic website and then proceed for a clean installation.
  • Since the Windows 7 CD is a bootable one, you ought to check whether the boot device is set to CD-ROM in the BIOS setup.

  •  Once you insert your disk, Windows 7 will automatically start booting and a progress window would subsequently appear. Next, choose the appropriate settings in the currency, time and language setup and hit ‘Next’ followed by ‘Install Now’.

  • The next step is to read the license terms and conditions and checkmark “I accept license terms’, provided you agree. Post this, select the Custom (Advanced) option out of the two displayed.

  • Further, choose the destination as to where you would like the installation to happen. Consequently, Windows 7 will start the process and your system will be rebooted a few times. Relax; it’s just a part of the process! Make sure you do not hit any key while the reboot is happening or you get a boot prompt, for you have already done the essential settings in the beginning in the BIOS setup; not even by chance.

  • Once the rebooting process is completed, you’re then ready to use your PC once again. You may create an administrator account and set a desirable password to protect your computer from anti-social elements.

  • But as soon as you are done with this, make sure you put in the product key that came along your Windows 7 disk and press ‘Next’. Not that if you won’t enter the product key, you wouldn’t be able to proceed. Just that, in such a case, Windows 7 will then run on a trial version for the next 30 days. In the worst possibility, you won’t be able to operate your system post the specified time period.

  • After this, certain window panes will pop in to help protect your PC and improvise on Windows in an automated manner. You must choose the “Use Recommended Setting” option. Furthermore, set across your time zone, time and date followed by hitting ‘Next’ to proceed further. Selection of your present location is your next move.

  • Finally, Windows 7 will now save and update all the settings for your system and restart. And this being the final restart, Windows 7 will progress with its booting up and ultimately, the main logon screen would appear.

  • Sometimes, the computer may not be entirely configured. You can do so by letting your hardware be detected correctly; the same can be easily done in the “Device Manager” option accessible in the Control Panel.
Did you ever know it was that easy? So gladly, you may now no more characterise yourself as “not-so-computer savvy”. Let installing Windows 7 on your personal computer be a child’s play for you now.

Spams

Spam is basically flooding the internet with multiple copies of the same message. It is mainly done with the attempt to force someone to choose to read it, even if he does not want to, and today, spamming has become like a very frequent every day job over the internet. A frequent internet user would come across either spamming of emails and notifications every now and then, such increased is the activity of spamming these days.
Most spam is commercial, which include advertising for dubious products, or claiming to give you an ‘opportunity’ for easy and free earning, and making a queer attempt to make you indulge in activities over the internet which is quasi-illegal. They are a threat as they can be luring lots of innocent internet user into misleading activities. From here comes the need to learn more about spamming and how they can be prevented or reduced from spreading, because stopping a spam is sometimes definitely out of reach.
There are two main types of spams- Cancellable Usenet spam, which s a single message sent to 20 or more Usenet newsgroups. Usenet spam is aimed at “lurkers”, people who read newsgroups but rarely or never post and give their address away.
Another very common form of spamming people is email spam. It targets individual user by sending them direct mail messages using emails id’s from Usenet groups, stealing internet mailing lists, or searching the web for addresses.
Spam is pretty common, specially for advertising because of the sole reason that spamming does not cost anything to the sender but is heavily borne on the receiver.  Anyone with measured phone service, read or receive their mail while the meter is running. So to speak, spam costs them additional money. Moreover, it costs money for ISPs and online services to transmit spam, and these costs are transmitted directly to subscribers. So compressing as to what is spam, anything which is sent in bulk, or any email that is not a part of your subscription or was never asked for, or emails sent from unknown companies or people can be termed and recognized as spam.
The reason why spamming still continues is that not many people are aware of what exactly is spam, and thus the advertisements sent by spammers are very thoroughly read and received well by few ignorant people, and thus this process of spamming never comes to a standstill. Also for the people who are aware of what is a spam, the most common thing is of refraining from using anti-spam software’s and anti spam techniques. This is surely an encouragement for spammers as half the people have no complete information on spam and the other half are just too careless to do anything about it.
For the people who really care about such a thing, there is a list of techniques both at the person and non personal level, which could help reduce and prevent spam online. At the personal level, all you could do is never responding to it, filtering it out of your e-mail, and complaining to providers about it. Sharing an email address only among a limited group of correspondents is one way to limit spam. For this reason, avoid forwarding mails to people whom you do not know, and thus try using the ‘bcc’ tab for forwarding any email in case of emergency and refrain from forwarding mails to other unknown people or group through the ‘to’ tab.
Also try your best to avoid responses to spam. Even reverting to a spammed email saying, “Don’t spam me” will give them an automatic confirmation that this is a valid and an active email id and thus will spam mail you more. Also, no matter how much that junk and spammed email might look convincing and attractive, but it is very important for one to know that only if you stop responding and encouraging will this activity come to a stop.
