Best hollywood movies of the decade

Well, this decade has surely been more very enterprising in terms of movies. While there have been some really bad movies, a lot of movies have solidified their position as the classics of tomorrow. A lot of new filmmakers have arrived on the scene and promising actors have made their mark. In terms of technique and finesse, Hollywood has only improved. Here’s a look at the decade’s best movies.
Memento (2000)
This is a psychological thriller film that immortalized Guy Pearce. Christopher Nolan has written and directed this film which makes it all the more worthy of a watch. The story is brilliant. It is about a man who suffers from short-term memory loss and cannot store new memories. He is however se to find the killer of his wife – therefore he takes pictures of everything and tattoos his entire body to remind him of what he has to do. The Tamil and Hindi films Ghajini have been inspired from this movie only.
Children of Men (2006)
This one is science fiction at its best. Director Alfonso Curon takes us to 2027 where humans are incapable of reproducing and thus have only a century to survive. Against a background where different sects are fighting with each other, a lone, pregnant woman is found. An activist takes it upon himself to save her because she is their only beacon of hope. An incredible journey follows.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
This one is a romantic fantasy. Directed by Michael Gondry, it is about a couple who want to erase the memories of their relationship after it turns sour. As the protagonist Joel Barish tries to erase off his girlfriend’s memories, he realizes that he still loves her and doesn’t want those memories to go away. With an open ending, the audience is left to decide the fate of the couple. This is one of the most beautiful movies that have come out this decade for sure.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
This is an American crime thriller directed by the Coen brothers (seen True Grit, yet?). A hunter comes across a fortune that is not his. He decides to run away with it but chaos ensues. A kiler sets out to find the hunter and get the money. This one is meant to blow your mind away.
Inception (2010)
Christopher Nolan is surely the director of the decade. This movie is a modern-American science fiction. It transports the audience into a world of unbelievable technological advancements. People have invented a kind of technology that will help them enter human minds. This one has one of the smartest scripts and most innovative storylines.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
This is the second part of the LOTR trilogy. It has immense action and has been directed brilliantly by Peter Jackson. Frodo and Sam continue to find Gollum, the former owner of the ring. New allies are formed and newer conquests are made. This is one film you shouldn’t miss.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Christopher Nolan is definitely a pure genius. Welcome to the story of Batman. The superhero begins to fight against crime and this is one of the best adaptations of a book or comic ever. Heath Ledger and Christian Bale have almost immortalized their characters in this film.
A Beautiful Mind (2001)
This is a film based on the life of John Nash, a Nobel Laureate in Economics. Directed by Ron Howard, this one is about a brilliant but anti-social mathematician who starts becoming delusional. He starts working on secret cryptographic mission and then the audience gets to know about the reality in his life.
