Salads and salad dressing recipes

Gone are the days when salads consisted only of a couple of cut vegetables mixed together in a bowl. There are so many ways to keep healthy now and thus, there are so many types of salads too! There is literally a salad for every occasion or season. However, here are a few that you can try.
1. Coleslaw
Who doesn’t love coleslaw? It has now become synonymous to the most basic types of salads. Coleslaw is now even a side dish with so many popular dishes such as French fries, sandwiches, burgers and so on. All that coleslaw needs is around 6 cups of shredded cabbage, 1 shredded carrot, some mayonnaise, vinegar, vegetable oil, a little bit of sugar, and just a pinch of salt to taste. Toss all these ingredients together and whisk them literally. However, keep the cabbage and the carrot aside. Mix the whisked portion with the cabbage and the carrot and toss it thoroughly. 2. Greek Lemon Garlic Salad Dressing
This is one the healthiest and easiest salad dressings to make. You only need a little lemon juice, half a spoon of salt, Greek seasoning or Greek oregano, olive oil and garlic cloves. A little bit of brown mustard or ground pepper would also do. Just take an air-tight jar and mix all the ingredients together – shake it furiously. Let it settle and shake again. Keep shaking the mixture around 3 or 4 times till you are sure that everything has been mixed well. Taste it and if it is too acidic, try putting in a little more olive oil to balance the mixture out. 3. Watermelon, cucumber and mint salad
This is perfect to beat the heat! This is one of the most refreshing and delicious salads to ever make! You can even make it for a house party. You will need chopped watermelon, chopped cucumber, some fresh mint and some cheese. Mix these ingredients together in a salad bowl. Take the mixture out delicately and lay the salad out on a plate. Add some cheese and mint or top. You have the perfect health food ready for you. 4. Sugar-Free Thousand Island Dressing
Who doesn’t like Thousand Island? Creamy and delicious, indeed. You can even put it in burgers and sandwiches and serve it as dip with French fries or chips! However, for a salad, you might want to try the sugar-free version. You will need some mayonnaise, some sour cream, some sugar-free ketchup, 3 spoons of sugar-free relish and one spoon of mustard. Mix the ingredients together and keep tasting. Try adding ingredients the way you want the dressing to taste. You can add some sweetener in the end if you need to make it sweet.   5. Sweet and Sour Lime Dressing
The quickest preparation time amongst all the dressings we have discussed so far! You’ll need some lime juice, water, olive oil and seasonings or sweetener to taste. Mix the lime juice and water in a bowl and add the sweetener in a desired quantity. Add salt and pepper and whisk well so that the salt dissolves fast. Add the olive oil and whisk again. It sure tastes good! Put it over even a couple of lettuce leaves and you have the perfect salad ready!
