The B-Town Business

Bollywood as a fraternity is a place, which is the dream destination of lakhs of people in our country today. But how many of those lakhs are aware of what actually happens behind the silver screen and how much, one actually loses before he/she actually earns those few rupees?
A few years back when Anushka Sharma was starred opposite SRK in a Yash Raj banner called ‘Rab ne bana di jodi’, very few people looked at her performance. There were more people who said that her life was on a move because she has got her first break in a big banner opposite the king of bollywood. And to think of it were they right? Ever since Anushka has given most of her hits under the Yash Raj banner. And her fifth Yash Raj movie has been announced to commence it’s shooting in January 2012, with Yash Chopra coming back to direction after ‘Veer Zara’. It was also in news that any new actor who is launched by Yash Raj, signs a contract with them for three consecutive movies.
History seems to be repeating itself with Ranveer Singh, a 26-year-old actor who was absolutely nothing until last year when he gave a hit like ‘band baaja baraat’, has gained enough popularity to be able to host some big award functions. His new movie ‘Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl’ starring Anushka Sharma as the lead is soon going to be released. News suggests that his father had co produced his first film and because of which he got his break, something which the actor denies.
Bollywood has always been known for such ties. Whether it is in the form of actors signing contracts or some actresses having to sleep with the directors to be able to get a break. These are some hard facts of bollywood that are dark but unfortunately real.
Super Star Salman Khan is often said to help new actors, singers, directors get their break but how can one be sure that he has no vested interest in this or that he hasn’t earned anything out of these ventures.
The B town business has been as secretive as the underworld. The media knows only what the industry wants to tell. And a lot of times the news is cooked up so attain a particular objective. Bollywood is not only known to have secret bonds within the industry but also outside. A lot of movies were known for having been produced by underworld dons. For instance ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’, which was allegedly financed by Chhota Shakeel. A lot of actors like Sanjay Dutt, Salaman Khan and many more have also been in news in the past for their connections with the gangsters.
Bollywood is a sea whose seabed is almost impossible to be discovered. The more you dig, the deeper you go.
