Indian Institute of Mass Communication is the most prestigious media school in all of India. This institute is promoted and funded by the government of India.  This autonomous institute was established in the year 1965.
The institute offers courses for both graduates and post graduates. There are undergraduate courses available for students with 10+2 degree. Students with graduate degrees can apply for post-graduation courses.  In this institute entrance exams are conducted for some particular courses and some admissions are allotted according to the score obtained by the students. This institute is also in collaboration with other mass communications institutions in India and abroad.
2. Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai
Xavier Institute of Communications was established in the year 1969. This institute is located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This autonomous unit works from two campuses i.e. St Xavier’s high school campus and the St Xavier’s college campus. This institute is considered to be one of the best centers to study media. There are various courses offered by this institute that train the students in production. This institute offers certificated courses as well as post graduate diploma in mass communication.
3. AJK Mass Communication Research Center, Delhi
This institute is affiliated to Jamia Milia Islmia University. AJK mass communication Research Center was founded in the year 1952. 4. Bharitya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi
Established in the year 1950 in New Delhi, Bharitya Vidya Bhavan institute is affiliated with AICTE. The courses offered in this institute include Post graduate diploma in Radio and TV Journalism, communication and management, Radio and TV Production.

6. Department of Communication and Journalism, University of Pune
This department was established in Pune University in the year 1956. This department offers courses of two years diploma in journalism.  This course consists of two divided years of study (junior and senior). The students are required to appear for 5 exams (100 marks each) during the course.
7. Manorma School of Communication (MASCOM), Kottayam
Located in Kottayam, Kerala, Manorma School of communication is one of the first institutes which offered professional mass communication courses. The students will be trained on courses like journalism, media production and management techniques. This institute is most well known for its post graduate diploma in Journalism.
8. Aijaz Rizwi College of Journalism and Mass Communication, Lucknow
