What to do when your phone gets wet

1. Remove your cell phone out of the water immediately – You should grab your phone out of the water as soon as possible. 20 seconds is enough for the water to get in your phone. Keep the phone off. If you are not able to remove the phone instantly, just remove the battery to reduce risk of damage to your phone.

2. After you have got your phone out of the water, you must remove the battery immediately. You phone will probably survive if not attached to the battery. 3. Remove your SIM card as your contacts are stored on it. For some people the SIM is more valuable than the phone itself.

4. Remove all the parts of the phone that can be removed including the cover, memory card, crevices.

5. Even one drop of water in your phone can ruin you device completely. In order to prevent this from happening you must dry you phone thoroughly. So wipe the phone and dry it as much as possible. Try not to shake or move your phone too much. Once you have removed your battery you can also use alcohol to clean your phone.

6. You can also use vacuum cleaner to remove the moist and humidity from your phone. Avoid using a hairdryer as it will make it worse.

7. Keep the phone in rice for while. This will also get the water and moist out of the phone.

8. Keep the phone a towel or a napkin for at least 24 hours.

9. Check your phone after 24 hours and see if there is any sign of water. If it is completely dry try attaching the battery and see if it turns on and works fine.

10. If your phone is still not working then you must take it to a professional to fix it.
