This epic was adopted from James Hilton’s bestselling novel about a plane full of passengers stranded alone in Tibet and is bought to the imaginary place Shangri-la. It is a haunting and exciting mixture of drama, romance, thrill and suspense and it is known to be one of the most intelligent movies made.
5. My Fair Lady (1964)

A best musical romantic movie of all time, My Fair Lady tells a story about a linguistics professor who challenges to transform a Cockney, Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) into a lady of high society. Thus begins the impossible journey of the transformation of a simple flower girl into an elegant English lady. Not just fans of musicals or romance, but every person would surely find this movie deeply interesting.
6. Mutiny on the Bounty (1935)

Mutiny on the Bounty went on to be a pretty commendable movie with Charles as the evil Captain Bligh and Clark Gable as Fletcher Christian. While Gable grips the audience with his role in the movie, Laughton portrays himself as the despicable captain one can’t seem to stop hating. Gable remains memorable in his role. It is a story of revenge, distrust and enmity, which takes the characters on an adventure of hope and loyalty.
7. Singing in the Rain (1952)

This musical has received many awards due to its splendid comical scenes and remarkable music, and one of the greatest classical movies of all time. When Don Lockwood’s (Gene Kelly) newest film turns out be a musical, co-star Lina Lamount(Jean Hagen) is in serious trouble as she cannot sing, while Don has the perfect voice and knowledge of notes. Trying to find the solution to their problems, Don and Lina fall in love, leading to the invention of the famous song, “Singing in the Rain”. This movie was a humorous and classical hit and was loved by all.
8. North by Northwest (1959)
Director: Alfred Hitchcock
It remains one of the epic thrillers of all time. Hitchcock yet again uses his intelligent mind to create a not so disturbing, not so suspenseful and not so mind boggling story. It has just the right mixture of romance, revenge and conspiracy. Starring Cary Grant as Roger Thornhill, he faces the misfortune of sharing the same name with a spy and thus begins the chase for a man, mistaken for an international spy. The suspense and thrill in the right amounts make it pleasurable to watch as one might not get Goosebumps while watching it, but it isn’t predictable a movie either.
9. All About Eve (1950)

One of the most famous movies starring Davis as Margo Channing, who is a big star and Anne Baxter as Eve Harrington, who is Margo’s biggest fan, is an emotional tale of friendship and jealousy between these two women. It tells the gradual process of their friendship being turned to a series of misunderstandings and thus negative feelings for one another. Davis gives a brilliant performance as she confronts her morality as an actress and a woman.
10. Mary Poppins (1964)

Julie Andrews is just a perfect women and a mystical nanny, entering into the lives of two lonely children in 1910. Ignored by their parents, Mary Poppins tries changing their lives by giving the kids every moment of enjoyment they were longing for. She even succeeds in changing the minds of their parents and making them realize their responsibilities as parents towards their children. A heartwarming story of a simple nanny in a strong character, giving out a powerful message of having fun while fulfilling your responsibilities.
